How do you audit 10,000 trade promotions a year when each one pulls data from six places? Carl Spedale, Vice President of Revenue Management at Bob Evans Farms, has worked toward that answer for ten years. Bob Evans is a Post Holdings subsidiary in dinner, breakfast sides, sausage and liquid eggs. Carl's team makes sure every trade dollar comes back to the P&L.
Audits once ran one promotion at a time, with about 30 minutes of data stitching each. An Excel model stretched that to 500 a year. With Lyric Studio the team now covers all 10,000 and spends its time on what worked and why. A 14-week sprint landed ahead of the April AOP, so the field got clear options for weak promotions.
Carl also lays out what comes next: pricing optimization market by market, and business optimization that flexes between volume and margin. He expects at least seven figures in savings, a place he "didn't think we'd ever be able to get to frankly without Lyric Studio."
